Hot Air Balloon Inflation

hot air balloon inflation

Watch this video from the pilot’s point of view during a hot air balloon inflation. You can see how the inflation fan fills the envelope and the burners slowly add heat until the pilot is able to bring the balloon upright.

Before the inflation process begins, the pilot will brief you about safety. Please listen carefully and follow all of the pilot’s instructions. You may be asked to help hold the mouth of the balloon open during inflation (see image below). If you do this, please don’t wrap any ropes or cables around your body, hands, arms, or legs, as the balloon could move quickly and pull you into harms way. However, the inflation process can be very exciting and enjoyable, and is a great time for photos of how you helped with the balloon!
